Dir. Vikram Buragohain

The film explores the football culture in Shillong. Through different narratives the story weaves football and memories attached to the most popular game in Shillong. It attempts to showcase how football has created a space of entertainment in the local community and how the community has endorsed the game as a culture of its own. It traces evolvement and aspirations of football players from small localities to professional clubs.

Rough ’Em Up
(English/ 2012/ 40mins)
Directed by Sanjay Barnela
PSBT Production

What do you call a bunch of girls tackling, mauling, running and kicking on a 100 yard pitch, fighting for a ball? You call that playing rugby – a sport that gifts you more broken bones and torn ligaments than any other. How does rugby influence these women’s lives? From Kashmir to Kerala, Manipur to Mumbai, state teams are battling it out to win the Women’s Rugby Nationals each year. The story of an elitist sport that ended up making inroads into small towns so quickly.

Screening of the films will be followed by an interaction with the film makers.
