....EARTH DAY MELA
21-22 April 2012

@American Centre
24, K.G. Marg
New Delhi 110001

The fact that we are here today is because of where we live…on Planet Earth. In a sense then we are indebted to the earth below our feet, literally and figuratively speaking for having flora, fauna and human beings share a common planet. Nature and wildlife as living species in themselves do their but in conserving the earth, and making it function as it should. For us humans too it is essential that we think and act in favour of the earth, saving it for ourselves and our future generations…and to do this by saving and regenerating its resources, while reducing the burdens of wasteful living on the planet.

For this earth to continue giving all of us LIFE, its our responsibility to do everything we can to preserve it and therefore each day is ‘earth day’. At the same time, for this awareness to rise at a larger community, national and international level we mark
April 22 each year as ‘EARTH DAY’.

Earth day was initiated in San Francisco in 1970 and is now celebrated in more than 175 countries corresponding to the environmental needs of their communities.

In collaboration with the
Kriti team, Cinedarbaar, World Wide Fund for Nature and All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association, the American Centre is celebrating Earth Day on 21st and 22nd April, 2012.

The Earth Day Mela will be full of fun activities, film screenings, a music concert, puppetry, and art-music-imaging workshops to appreciate our natural environment.
