The One Billion Rising (OBR) movement, founded by Eve Ensler (now V) globally and brought to South Asia by Kamla Bhasin has been organised around various themes for a decade now.
2023 is the year of INSPIRATION and ASPIRATION, celebrating 10 years of the Rising. A year of storytelling, building communities, strengthening solidarity, sharing dreams, planting trees, creating art, honouring women and the earth, and of dancing. This year we call on the world to:
RISE FOR FREEDOM from Patriarchy and from all its’ progeny….capitalism, impunity, poverty, oppression, division, exploitation, shame, control, individualism, greed, violence…

Kriti: a development praxis and communication team has been organising OBR campaigns since its inception. This year we will be rising in Dehradun (12th Feb), Delhi and Mumbai (14th Feb), to mark 10 years of One Billion Rising, with our local community partners.
