A family is getting ready for a marriage alliance yet to be made. As the boy, Shekhara is growing a bit out of age and the girl, Pushpa being physically not very appealing, the marriage has been relatively delayed for both of them.

After struggling all their lives due to illiteracy, two women in rural Nepal are now making their way back to primary school along with their grandchildren. The film explores what drives these women and what they hope to accomplish in the future.

Set in a newly constructed landscape of suburban Delhi, the filmmaker turns the camera inward to the space of her home. Through silences, whispered conversations, and objects, the film examines the complex nature of gender and family dynamics.

Driven by love, and wonder, two individuals, artists, living, working and growing, together and separately. Through the works of the male protagonist, the film brings to us his sharp commentary on the ethos of his times: growing consumerism and pollution; state violence and repression; and the yearning for freedom, both artistic and personal.
