5th June is World Environment Day and the Kriti team invites you to join our Eco Festival 2010 to celebrate this day as one that marks ecofootprints in the ways we think, see and act on this earth. In its second year, the Eco Festival aims at creating greater awareness, interest and actions to mitigate climate change so that together we can challenge the impact of global warming and environment.

Day 1: Friday, 4th June 2010
12.00 – 1.00 pm: Opening of the EcoFestival - World Environment Day weekend opens with poetry, ecoHaat, ecoCafe, ecoNursery, ecoInstallations, ecoCompetition entries display…lamp lighting, getting creative and expressive for the environment…
2.00 pm – 4.00 pm: EcoArt workshop 1: Recycle to Create - with music and theatre discover ‘news’paper’ bags
“I was a newspaper that you read this morning and threw away into trash. Why not keep me to carry your shopping or giving someone a gift. I’ll be very happy if you reuse me and save trees that are cut to produce me”! Music, team work and newspapers to make your own carry bag and save the environment alongside. The workshop will be facilitated by Mrinalini Chawla and Kriti team volunteers.
4.00 pm – 6.00 pm: EcoArt workshop 2: Create your own handmade recycled paper stationary
This workshop will give you a variety of handmade recycled paper to make your own photoframes, wall hangings and stationary…The workshop will be facilitated by women from the Kriti EcoPapers unit along with other environmentalists.
7.00 pm: Ecorhythms – a Jazz fusion performance by HFT with envt. as theme.
11.00 am – 1 pm: EcoReels…films on wild life, water, forests and climate change for children and adults by Meenakshi Vinay Rai, Krishnendu Bose, Tarini Manchanada, and Annie Leonard.
This workshop will provide you with cloth, plastic, cans, and other waste materials and help you create useful objects for yourself, friends and family. This workshop will be facilitated by Anjali Bharthari and Kriti team volunteers. Come and get creative with waste on this World Environment Day!
2.00 - 6.00 pm: EcoDance workshop: In the Flow
This workshop will take you through a journey/exploration/experience of flow through dance. “Nature forces within us are the true healers of disease”. The flow will help you connect with the elements of nature within and outside, create a conscious communication and expression, a discovery of yourself, to live life with total involvement and sensitivity to the human and natural environment. This workshop will be facilitated by Shilpika Bordoloi, a trained, professional contemporary dancer.
7.00 – 8.30 pm: Ecomovements: The Little Blue Planet by members of Kathkatha, led by famous puppeteer, Anurupa Roy is a puppetry based performance that looks at the phenomena of rapid climate change in the world today. The show provides us a glimpse of the universe and the creation of a unique planet called the Earth..with Earthu who creates “life” with his little hands, plants, flowers, butterflies and then a whole forest, fishes and birds. Finally he creates a “Human” and nurtures him but then something bad starts to happen…The show premiered at the Little Theatre at NCPA Mumbai last year and would be loved by children and adults alike.

On Sunday, 6th June 2010 - lets end the festival with coming together at Lodi Gardens
5.45 am to 7.30 am: Ecowalk the Talk – Celebrating Delhi’s Environment on a walking cum talking session beyond the festival – our trees, our birds and our ecoheritage with environmentalists and experts. Breakfast together and make a collective ecofootprint on the streets of Delhi! Registrations open!
Note: EcoArt and Dance workshops are free and Open for children (7+) and adults, all age groups. Please register in advance to confirm a place for yourself, but if you can’t register earlier don’t let that stop you from coming to the festival. A certificate of participation will be given. Please carry a photo id to facilitate entry into the American Center.
