About Swaang…
The
group includes actors, writers, directors, singers and composers primarily
working with the Hindi Film Industry in Mumbai. The members come from different
parts of India and have been associated with progressive arts in the past.
In December 2012, they composed ‘Maa Nee Meri’ in response to the Delhi gang rape. They will present protest and women's rising songs based on the writings of some legendary progressive poets like Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Sahir Ludhianvi, Dushyant Kumar, Paash, Gorakh Pandey, Habib Jalib as well as some original writings of members of the group.
Among their theatre productions, the most recent production is a street play "Beech ka Raasta Nahin Hota," a dramatic adaptation of the poetry of Punjabi revolutionary poet Avtar Singh Pash.
