Exploring Madness
(English/2006/19mins)
Dir. Parvez Imam

About the Film: The film brings together a variety of issues related to mental illness in Indian society.

Bhalo Basar Jonye, Bhalo Basar Songe (For Love, with Love)
(Bengali and Urdu with English subtitles/2019/26 mins)
Prod, Wri & Dir.Manav Kaushik

About the Film: As we hear poetic expression of an ailing father who was once very creative, we witness the worldly voyage of the main protagonist (a married daughter) seriously and sincerely taking care of him. Very well supported by her husband, though he does get annoyed time to time, as suggested, the daughter tries to re-introduce to her father the old people and places he has always been connected to in the past.

The screenings will be followed by a discussion with Manav Kaushik

About the Filmmakers:
Dr Parvez Imam is a producer and director, known for The Beginning (2006), Flight 208 (2007) and The Waterfall (2011). Parvez is a multidisciplinary practitioner of arts. He explores identity labels, presence, reality and the status quo through his practice. He experiments with form and creates layered narratives often grounded in abstraction. His works are mostly experiential in nature. He engages with video, photography, sound, Installations and performances but does not limit himself merely to these. The use of other media and techniques is also evident in his practice. His work stems from the routine encounters with the surroundings, the social conditions and the situations that he finds along the journey of life.

Manav Kaushik has worked as an Assistant Director for the magnum opus ‘1942 – A Love Story’. He was also featured in a tele-film ‘Dhain-te-Dain’ by Vishal Bhardwaj for ZEE Channel. Manav Kaushik who did short film related courses in the US and in India, came in contact with Hungarian Director Istvan Gaal at the F.T.I.I. who taught and trained him further privately. Manav Kaushik who has more than 400 film based TV shows to his credit as a researcher and script writer, is an incalculable thinker and is involved in talks, does hold film based workshops and works as a ‘script doctor’ for film project.
