Covid-19 Relief For Daily Wagers In Dehradun/ Make a Donation today

Help us support 300 daily wagers and their families in the resource poor and low income areas of Deep Nagar and Badripur in Dehradun, Uttarakhand and some other daily wagers from across the country (Delhi, Haryana, Jaipur, Mumbai) who are reaching out to us, as they struggle to meet their basic needs due to no work during the Covid19 lockdown. The Dehradun relief will be facilitated by friends and volunteers who have worked in this area and the all-India support will go through the Kriti team members, volunteers and friends.

With the national lockdown extended until 3rd May 2020 and a crisis of daily and salaried earnings that will last beyond, we are now raising Rs. 1500/- per family, per month for April, May and June 2020 (i.e. a total of Rs.4500/- per family)

Your donations are being used to buy dry rations to marginalised families in this area where women / men/ youth work as unorganised, sectors workers including construction workers, domestic workers, painters, plumbers, electricians and other daily wagers. The give-outs are being facilitated through local kirana stores, kriti team members, local volunteers and friends.

This per month, ration package will include 10 kg aata (flour), 5 kg rice, 2 kg dal (lentils), 1/2 kg salt, 2 kg sugar, 500 grams tea, 2 litre oil, 2 soaps and 1 packet of sanitary napkins. For those who would like some other ration or item, we will try to substitute or add if funds permit. Mobile recharge support is another one we are looking at supporting as that is one enabler in lockdown times for everyone.

Once the lockdown opens, we would try to respond with more need based support to maintain the self-respect and dignity of the community. We salute each and every daily wager as a person with the capacity to earn through his/ her labour but this support comes at a time of unprecedented economic crisis and lockdown of work. As a principle of safeguarding the dignity and privacy of the underprivileged, we will not be taking any photos. (Trust is the key word here as is Dignity of the Marginalized). We will, when the time is right and as much as possible, put up testimonies of the community--respecting their voice and expression.

Please make a minimum donation of Rs.1500/- per family, per month for atleast three months of rations ideally. We welcome you to support more than one family for one or more months. Your donations will enable these vulnerable families to overcome their struggles during and post the lockdown phase.

We hope that family, friends and friends of friends and new others will support our effort.
