“Didi, meree saas nae kal bahut maara mujhe aur mayeke jaane ke liye bola. Kyuki meree salary naheen millee hae aur mahine ke ration kee kamee ho gayee hae. Aap please meree madad kar do ration de doh”. (My mother-in-law beat me yesterday and told me to go to my parents house or bring rations from somewhere. Can you help me didi as I have not got my salary due to lockdown and I can’t buy food for the house now”.Every day we have such calls coming from women in Deepnagar, Badripur and nearby areas coming to our field team doing Covid19 relief in Dehradun. Some, we are able to respond to and most others we can’t help.
“Didi, yaha par dukaano ke cleaning staff hae jo idhar udhar ghoom rahe hae aur do log mere ghar tak aaye aur ration maang rahe thhe. Kya hum inko ration de sakte hae please.” (A field workers tells us that petty daily wagers of local shops and dhabas are in a desperate condition due to lockdown and two of them came to her house asking if we could help them with food).When the hands that labour and earn with dignity and self-respect have to beg for food like this...when we have food on our plate everyday of the lockdown...we ask you to MAKE A DONATION so we can get them dry rations to last three months as they have lost that many days of work.
