About the Film: Women are not allowed! Yet Sofia is determined to become a judge of Islamic Law. Tensions and negotiations that mark her journey are interwoven with Muslim women's fight for gender justice against an arbitrary oppressive practice. How do these individual journeys merge with the collective voice of Muslim women's movement in a country whose socio-political scenario is increasingly becoming more volatile?
About the Director: After having completed a two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Editing from Roopkala Kendro, Farha Khatun has edited several documentary films, short fiction and also worked on feature films. She is known for her films Holy Rights (2020), Ripples Under the Skin (2022) and If You Dare Desire (2017), I am Bonnie and The Jungle Man… Loiya’. Her films have been screened at several national and international film festivals and received many awards. Farha has also been a mentor in several filmmaking workshops to teach women about the impact of audiovisual medium, especially documentaries, in rural areas of India, to equip them to voice their concerns and thoughts.
